What should you bear in mind during your stay?
- Please remain in your room during visiting and treatment times, as well as at mealtimes. To ensure your own privacy and that of others, we ask visitors to leave the ward during these times.
- For some time now, our nursing team has been offering aromatherapy as a complementary care measure to promote health and well-being and to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes. Further information can be found here.
- Spending time in our eco-friendly recovery room is not only welcome but is often even recommended – please ask your doctor about this. Please do not forget to sign out with the nursing staff on your floor beforehand. In winter, the room is closed for safety reasons.
Our daily care routine in detail:
Breakfast: 7.00–7.30 am
Lunch: 11.00 am–12.00 pm
Dinner: 4.30–5.30 pm
Bedtime: 9.00 pm
Visiting hours*: approximately 9.00 am–12.00 pm
(*in some wards from 8.00 am)
Further information about your stay
There is a monitor by your bed offering a basic entertainment package free of charge. You are welcome to add a premium package via PayPal (directly on the tablet) or by card payment at the self-service terminal (SST) in the entrance area (in Zell am See, also on Level 3). Headphones are available on request from the nursing staff.
Each of our facilities has a Caféteria:
Zell am See: In the entrance area, opening hours: Mon–Fri 09:00–17:00, Sat/Sun/public holidays 10:00–17:00
Mittersill: This is located in Building B on Level 1, opening hours: daily from 13:00 – 16:45.
Mobile phones and smartphones have become an integral part of our daily lives. Please note that mobile phones can interfere with medical equipment. Please be considerate of others: switch your mobile phone to silent or flight mode when you are not using it.
There is a statutory smoking ban throughout the Tauernklinikum! Smoking is only permitted in the designated smoking areas.
Patients A–Z: Hospital Stay
Avoid alcohol, as alcohol and medication do not mix well.
The prayer room is a good place to find peace and pray. The entrance to the prayer room in Zell am See is located behind the large staircase in the entrance hall and is open daily from 7.00 am to 7.00 pm.
Our prayer room in Mittersill is currently closed due to ongoing renovation work. We thank you for your understanding.

Anger and other negative emotions are not conducive to the recovery process. We are always happy to help if you need advice or support. For praise, suggestions and complaints, please contact the Ombudsman’s Office (ombudsstelle@tauernklinikum.at) or complete the patient survey (available online or in paper form).
Please ensure that you sign out at the ward reception desk whenever you leave the ward, so that appointments for ward rounds, treatments and examinations can be arranged with you and kept.

We offer you the opportunity to use effective, certified organic aromatherapy products.
Aromatherapy can help to alleviate the unpleasant side effects of medical treatment and may also have a positive impact on your recovery. You decide for yourself, in consultation with your carer, whether to use alternative care products.
Our doctors are legally obliged to provide you with information about certain procedures, vaccinations, medications and treatment methods. To do this, an appointment will be arranged for an information session. During this session, you will be given an information sheet, which you will go through step by step with the relevant doctor. Any technical terms or unclear points will be explained to you.
It is important to be able to identify yourself at the hospital. Ideally, you should present an e-card or photo ID so that your details can be recorded and you can receive the best possible care.
An ATM is located in the service zone in the entrance area of Zell am See, opposite the information desk.
Accompanying persons may be admitted as part of your treatment. Staff at the patient discharge desk will inform you of the costs involved.
General visiting hours are from 12.30 pm to 7.00 pm. For patients in private rooms, extended visiting hours apply from 10.00 am to 8.00 pm.
New mothers and their babies need more rest. Therefore, visiting hours in the maternity ward are from 3.30 pm to 7.00 pm for general visitors and from 10.00 am to 8.00 pm for close relatives.
In the Intensive Care Unit and IMCU, visitors (max. 2 people at a time) are permitted from 1.30 pm to 3.30 pm and from 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm.
Our building is equipped with the required fire alarms, ensuring the highest possible level of safety. In the event of a fire, please remain calm above all else! Follow the instructions of our trained staff. In the event of a fire, please ensure you follow these instructions:
- Do not use the lifts!
- If you are unable to walk, our specially trained staff will bring you to safety.
- To leave the hospital quickly, please follow the escape route signs.
The Caféteria at the Tauernklinikum Zell am See is located to the left of the main staircase in the foyer.

The cafeteria at the Tauernklinikum Mittersill is located in Building B, Level 1.

The protection of your personal data is of particular importance to us. All staff members at our hospital are bound by a legal duty of confidentiality. As part of your nursing assessment, you will be asked to name a trusted contact (someone authorised to receive information about you) and will be given a personal password for medical information (see also ‘Personal password’). You can also find our privacy policy on our website. We are not permitted to disclose information to relatives regarding the diagnoses of fellow patients. We ask for your discretion – including regarding telephone calls and video recordings in patient rooms.
Please speak to the nursing staff if you require an interpreter.
The e-card is an electronic health card which you are normally required to carry with you at all times.
If a medical procedure, such as an operation or an endoscopy, is necessary, doctors will ask you to sign a consent form. Do not sign it until you have been given a full and clear explanation of the nature and extent of the treatment.
Our dietitians are available to support you with all your nutritional needs. They will provide guidance if you need to follow a special diet due to your condition.
Providing first aid is very important! We ask that you step in to help in an emergency, depending on your qualifications.
Our kitchen team provides balanced and tasty meals for the whole house. Meal times are:
Breakfast: 7.00–7.30 am
Lunch: 11.30 am–12.00 pm
Dinner: 4.30–5.00 pm
The newly installed patient entertainment system allows you to watch TV (with limited channels) and listen to the radio via a free basic package. A range of other features are also available.
If you wish, you can upgrade to a premium package, which includes more TV channels and higher internet bandwidth (free of charge for Premium Class). Further information can be found directly on the touchscreen.
Our ecological recovery area at the Tauernklinikum Zell am See invites visitors to linger, play and enjoy physical activities to their heart’s content. A barefoot path and a range of balancing and climbing stations, both small and large, complement this open space designed for people and nature.
The ecological recovery area is freely accessible around the clock to all patients, visitors and staff. The stations are equally suitable for children of all ages. Adults can also use the various elements as training exercises for strength, coordination and balance — or simply to relax.
In winter, the area is closed due to the increased risk of injury.

For health and safety reasons, please wear suitable, non-slip footwear.
We would like to emphasise the importance of hand sanitisation. Hands should be sanitised:
- Before eating
- After sneezing or coughing
- After vomiting
- Always after using the toilet (wash hands with soap, then sanitise)
- Before leaving the room and when returning to it
If you have forgotten toiletries, a hairdryer or similar items, or if you have come to see us at short notice, we will be happy to provide these for you.
You can access the internet via the screen by your bed as part of the Basic Package. To do so, please log in using your patient wristband.
For broadband internet, you can purchase the Premium Package (free of charge for those in the Special Class). You can find information on how to upgrade your package on the touchscreen.
To adjust the position of the blind, use the buttons mounted on the wall.
- Press and hold a button: open or close the blind
- Press a button briefly: fan out or close the slats of the blind
The blinds open automatically at 7.30 am and when wind speeds reach 13 m/s.
The blinds close automatically at dusk (to protect patients from getting too cold and from unwanted glances) and when there is a certain level of sunlight (to protect against overheating).
It is important that doctors are aware of any known medical conditions and are informed about any medication you are already taking.
Your mobile phone is a valuable aid when it comes to organising insurance matters, contacting relatives, and so on. However, mobile phones can interfere with medical equipment. Therefore, please only use your mobile phone after consulting the nursing staff. We also ask you to be considerate of others and to set your mobile phone to silent mode or switch on flight mode.
Getting enough sleep aids recovery. Quiet hours are from 9.00 pm to 6.00 am.

There is a post box located in front of the main entrance.
Please note the legal ban on smoking! Smoking is only permitted in the designated smoking areas, for example in front of the main entrance (glass enclosure).
Hygiene is a top priority in a hospital. The premises are cleaned regularly. However, should you require additional cleaning, please do not hesitate to contact the nursing staff at any time.
If you wish, we would be happy to put you in touch with a chaplain from your local parish or our in-house pastoral care service. Please speak to your nursing staff.
We are a certified "self-help-friendly hospital". Various self-help groups are available at our hospital.
For hygiene reasons, animals are not permitted in the hospital.
As a hospital, it is important to us to operate in as environmentally friendly and resource-efficient a manner as possible. We are constantly working on processes to improve sustainability.
In our hospitals, depending on the department, we set aside time between 9.00 am and 12.00 pm to carry out ward rounds.
