Hospital hygiene

The Hospital Hygiene Department actively contributes to protecting the safety and health of our patients and all employees at Tauernkliniken. Hygiene measures play a crucial role in hospitals in preventing infections and ensuring the quality of medical care.

In particular, the increase in multi-resistant pathogens poses new challenges for hospital hygiene and all departments.

A gloved hand cleans a lab surface with a cloth; a microscope is in the blurred background, creating a sterile environment impression.

Services and responsibilities of the hygiene team:

  • Detection, monitoring, prevention and control of infections
  • Involvement of all areas through hygiene contact persons
  • The creation of hygiene guidelines and cleaning and disinfection plans
  • Advice on construction measures, technical facilities and the correct preparation of medical devices
  • Advice and training for all hospital staff to ensure hygiene standards are met
  • Hygiene inspections
  • Participation in the Clean Hands Campaign
  • Preparation of pathogen and resistance statistics
