Violence protection & victim support.
We listen. We observe. We are here for you.
Violence has many faces – physical, emotional, sexual or economic. It often goes unrecognised. Too often, people remain silent.
If you are afraid, have been hurt or do not feel safe, talk to us. Even small signs count. You do not have to say everything – our victim protection team acts discreetly, attentively and with respect.
It is not your fault. Talk to us – we are here to help at any time, confidentially and securely.
Why victim protection is important
- One in three women has experienced physical and/or sexual violence since the age of 15.
- One in five women experiences violence in a relationship.
- Men are also affected – around 10% of victims of violence are male.
- Hospitals are often the first (and only) point of contact for victims of violence.
Forms of violence
Violence can take many forms and often occurs in combination:
- Physical violence – e.g. hitting, choking, injuries
- Psychological violence – threats, control, humiliation
- Sexual violence – assault, coercion
- Economic violence – financial control, dependence
- Social or traditional violence – isolation, forced marriage, honour violence
Consequences of violence
The effects can be physical, psychological and psychosomatic:
- Physical: haematomas, fractures, cuts, strangulation marks
- Psychological: depression, anxiety, panic attacks, suicidal thoughts
- Psychosomatic: chronic pain, digestive problems, sleep disorders
If violence is not recognised, it can lead to incorrect treatment, overdiagnosis and permanent health impairments.
