Processing unit
for medical devices
The Department for the Reprocessing of Medical Devices (AEMP) ensures that all equipment, instruments and materials used in medical treatment always meet the highest standards of hygiene and safety. Through careful and reliable reprocessing, our employees make a decisive contribution to the quality of medical care and the health of our patients.
Services & responsibilities
The AEMP is an essential part of everyday clinical practice. The department ensures that all reusable medical devices and instruments are professionally cleaned, disinfected, sterilised and inspected after each use.
This includes:
- Cleaning and disinfection: All instruments are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected to remove residues of body fluids, blood or other contaminants.
- Sterilisation: After cleaning, careful sterilisation is carried out to ensure that all potential pathogens are killed. We use state-of-the-art methods such as steam pressure sterilisation (autoclaving) and high-temperature processes.
- Testing and quality assurance: All reprocessed medical devices are tested for functionality and integrity. Only products that meet all quality criteria are approved for further use.
- Documentation and traceability: We document all steps of the reprocessing process to ensure the traceability of each product. This allows us to track when and how a medical device was reprocessed at any time.

Processing procedure
The AEMP team is specially trained and follows the latest legal requirements and recommendations to ensure the safe and effective reprocessing of medical devices. The proper reprocessing of medical devices is of central importance for patient safety. Our goal at Tauernkliniken is to minimise the risk for everyone involved and to ensure the best possible care for those undergoing treatment.
The reprocessing of medical devices is carried out in close cooperation with all medical departments at Tauernkliniken. We ensure that every instrument used in diagnosis, treatment or care is safe and ready for its next use. Through regular training and close communication, we guarantee a smooth process.
