The Gynaecology and Obstetrics Department at Tauernkliniken focuses on the health and well-being of women in every phase of life. Our services range from preventive care and diagnosis to the treatment of gynaecological conditions and care during pregnancy, childbirth and postnatal care.

Our experienced doctors, midwives and nurses work closely together to provide individual care for each patient. We combine medical expertise, state-of-the-art technology and human care. This ensures that every woman feels understood and well looked after.

Our team of experienced midwives, doctors and nurses is there for you every step of the way, from prenatal care to delivery and postnatal care. We pay attention to your individual wishes and needs and create an atmosphere in which you feel completely at ease.

As the only certified "Baby Friendly Hospital" in the province of Salzburg, we attach great importance to making every birth as safe and positive as possible. With specialists on call 24 hours a day, modern delivery rooms, rooms with lake views and a sun terrace, as well as gentle delivery methods such as water births, early bonding between parents and child, and much more, we enable you to consciously experience the birth and actively participate in shaping it. Even after the birth, we continue to accompany you and your child, providing support with breastfeeding, valuable tips for the first few weeks and advice and assistance.

For us, the focus is on people – every family, every birth and every new life is special. Our aim is to accompany this special moment with such professional and emotional competence that it remains unforgettable.

Range of obstetric services

  • Single, double and triple rooms, family rooms
  • Day room with lake view and sun terrace
  • Integrative postnatal care: mother and child are cared for together by a competent nurse/midwife.
  • Rooming-in: over 24 hours
  • Breastfeeding: intensive breastfeeding advice and breast care
  • Infant care with strengthening of maternal skills: bathing, nappy changing, umbilical cord care, etc.
  • Nutritional advice: breastfeeding and bottle feeding with lots of closeness
  • Aftercare: Postnatal/postpartum exercise under the expert guidance of a physiotherapist
  • Safety: constant presence of a doctor and anaesthetist
  • Facilities: modern furnishings with changing table, Wi-Fi and television connection
  • Buffet breakfast, small snacks available between meals, night-time snacks, balanced lunches and dinners
  • Paediatric care is provided on a consultative basis by paediatricians in the region and, if necessary, by the neonatology department at Salzburg University Hospital.

Range of gynaecological services

Our gynaecology department offers a wide range of modern diagnostic and therapeutic services – individualised, gentle and at the cutting edge of medicine.
A particular focus is placed on minimally invasive, robot-assisted surgery using the Da Vinci surgical system. This innovative technology enables precise, tissue-sparing procedures with faster healing times and excellent treatment outcomes.

  • Uterine and cervical tumours
  • Ovarian tumours
  • Uterine lining disorders (e.g. endometrial carcinoma)


Urogynaecology and pelvic floor surgery:

  • Diagnosis and treatment of prolapse and incontinence
  • Reconstructive pelvic floor surgery to restore anatomical structures
  • Use of modern, individually tailored surgical procedures


Through close cooperation with the departments of oncology, radiology, pathology, general surgery and urology, we ensure holistic, patient-oriented care from diagnosis to follow-up.
