The Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine at Tauernklinikum ensures safe, pain-free and individually tailored care during surgical procedures. Modern anaesthesia techniques ensure that patients are optimally prepared for surgery and enjoy the highest level of safety and comfort during the procedure – both adults and children. For children, anaesthesia care is only possible from the age of 3.

Another focus is on intensive care for people with life-threatening illnesses, after serious accidents or after complex operations. In specially equipped intensive care units, our team provides you with the highest level of medical care around the clock.

In addition, the department specialises in modern pain therapy – in the acute phase after surgical procedures and also for certain chronic pain conditions. Special attention is also paid to emergency medicine: the experienced team is on call as part of the emergency medical service to provide rapid diagnosis and treatment of life-threatening emergencies.

Anaesthesia and surgical preparation

Assessment of health status, selection of the appropriate anaesthesia procedure.

Operative anaesthesia

Pain relief during surgical and diagnostic procedures using anaesthesia (general anaesthesia) or anaesthesia of individual areas of the body (regional anaesthesia), monitoring and safeguarding of vital bodily functions during surgery, treatment of post-operative pain in the recovery room, organisation of surgical operations.

Intensive care

Diagnosis and treatment of life-threatening illnesses, including special nursing care, restoration of impaired vital bodily functions.

Pain management

Diagnosis and treatment of chronic pain in collaboration with other specialist disciplines (orthopaedics, radiology), painkiller infiltration for back problems.

Care in the Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Unit

Specialises in the care of intensive care patients and psychological support for relatives.

Palliative care

Emergency medicine

Ensuring emergency medical care at the Tauernklinikum hospital and throughout the Pinzgau region in cooperation with the Red Cross.

About the person

Dr. Miroslav Cada, MD, has headed the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine at the Tauern Clinics, with locations in Zell am See and Mittersill, since January 1, 2020.

After working as a physician at the University Hospital in Brno, Czech Republic, he joined the Mittersill Hospital in 1991, where he has been a specialist in anesthesiology and intensive care medicine since 1995. From 1997 to 2019, he headed the Institute and later the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine at the Mittersill location.

With decades of experience in clinical anesthesiology, intensive care, emergency medicine, and specialized pain therapy, including interventional pain management, Dr. Cada stands for the highest medical quality, patient safety, and personalized care. His commitment is to modern, team-oriented and patient-centered care at all levels of anesthesia and intensive care medicine.
