Training as a nursing assistant (PFA)

Your role as a nursing assistant
In this training programme, you will expand your knowledge and take on more responsibility in direct patient care. You will work even more closely with our nursing staff, support medical procedures and help ensure that our patients receive the best possible care.
Your responsibilities – responsible and people-oriented
- Implementation and co-design of basic care
- Support with treatment care (e.g. wound care, vital sign monitoring)
- Assistance with medical examinations and therapies
- Observation, documentation and dissemination of important information
- Supporting and empowering patients and their families in challenging situations
What you bring to the table:
- Completed training as a nursing assistant or successful completion of the 10th grade of school
- Enjoyment of more responsible tasks in nursing
- Ability to work in a team, empathy and organisational skills
- The desire to develop personally and professionally

Duration and start date of training

Training to become a nursing assistant usually takes two years, or one year as a refresher course
for nursing assistants, and starts regularly every year in spring and autumn.
Your future prospects
With a qualification as a nursing assistant, even more opportunities will open up for you: you will take on more advanced tasks in patient care and, if you are interested, you can also take the step towards a shortened bachelor's and subsequently master's degree at a university of applied sciences.
