Tauernklinikum Mittersill –
Your health centre for the region

Since 1908, our hospital in Mittersill has stood for care and medical treatment — back then as a refuge for those in need, today as a future-oriented health centre. With the upcoming new building and comprehensive modernisation, we want to ensure that our care continues to meet the highest standards tomorrow.

Our goal: to provide you with comprehensive, modern, safe and local care. That is why we are constructing new buildings and modernising existing structures — with a strong focus on functionality, comfort and sustainability.

What is changing — and what remains the same

  • More space and new rooms: The new building creates space for important areas — including a centre for general medicine, specialists, physical medicine, a dental clinic and a health and social counselling centre.
  • Modern medical care: 88 beds are being created on three floors — including intensive care (IMC), acute geriatric care and palliative care. Outpatient care with radiology and interdisciplinary medicine is also being reorganised.
  • Added comfort and safety: new operating theatres, a day clinic, endoscopy, improved processes and a rooftop helicopter landing pad ensure that emergencies can be dealt with more quickly and professionally.
  • Services for relatives and staff too: in addition to modern patient care, there is a new kitchen with a bistro/terrace — a place for staff, patients and visitors alike.

This is how the transition works — with consideration for everyone

The construction site was carefully planned to minimise disruption to ongoing hospital and outpatient operations. From 2 June 2025, the main entrance will be temporarily relocated to Building B — direct access will remain available for emergencies and people with limited mobility, and "Kiss & Ride" parking spaces will allow for short stops.

In addition, there will be a new parking management system: since 1 September 2025, a short-term parking zone has been in place for patients and visitors. Those who need to park for longer can obtain a day ticket if necessary — inpatients will receive an authorisation card upon admission.

To ensure that everyone is well informed, the Tauernklinikum is setting up an information point for residents, patients and interested parties. We would like to thank everyone for their understanding and patience during the construction phase: the effort is worth it for better healthcare in the region!

Why it's worth the wait

This complete renovation will create a health centre that redefines medical care in Pinzgau: local, versatile, modern and reliable. For the approximately 90,000 people in the region — and for the many guests who holiday here.

We are creating spaces for medicine, care and interaction — so that you feel well looked after. And so that health is a tangible reality for everyone.
