Tauernklinikum Mittersill
to be further strengthened

New acute geriatric care and remobilisation unit begins operations
(Mittersill, 6 November 2024) – "The new acute geriatric and remobilisation unit in Mittersill is a milestone for healthcare provision throughout the district," said Managing Director Silke Göltl today, Thursday, at the opening of the newly designed ward. Modern patient rooms, a fully equipped training kitchen and a spacious lounge area with a terrace now invite patients to recover, linger and relax in a friendly and cosy atmosphere, according to the Tauernklinikum managing director.
"Our target group is primarily older people who need medical, therapeutic and nursing care and support to return to everyday life after an illness or accident. We have created the ideal conditions for this here," explains Medical Director Dr Michael Hofer.
Fully equipped practice kitchen and cosy lounge area
The new, fully equipped, modern practice kitchen was designed specifically for the needs of patients. "The opportunity to practise everyday skills in a realistic environment is very important for those affected," emphasises Head of Department Prim. Univ.-Doz. Dr René R. Wenzel. "Training important everyday skills and fostering a sense of personal responsibility for living as independently as possible, even in old age, are important topics in our training kitchen. A barrier-free environment with a feel-good factor is the first prerequisite for this," adds
Wenzel. "We are already delighted with the positive feedback from the team and our patients," sums up department head DGKP Bernd Buchner. What exactly is there to rave about? There are several new areas that are causing excitement.
Modern patient rooms with a feel-good factor
The new acute geriatric care area has eleven modern patient rooms, including four twin rooms (special class), all of which have been designed with great care and attention to detail. A particular highlight of the latter are the cosy upholstered benches in front of the windows, which offer patients and visitors a comfortable place to relax.
Inviting colour scheme and friendly design
An essential aspect of the new department is the well-thought-out and relaxing, yet revitalising design of the rooms. The colour scheme, developed especially for AGR patients, promotes well-being and aids orientation. In this way, therapeutic progress and motivation to exercise are virtually painted on the wall.
In addition, the new acute geriatric care area offers a spacious lounge area with direct access to the sunny terrace with a roof garden, which offers a great view over Mittersill and the surrounding mountains.
