Tauern clinics get
their own pharmacy

Independent supply of medicines secured for patients in Zell am See and Mittersill hospitals
(Zell am See, 28 November 2024) – Since 1 October 2024, the Tauernkliniken hospitals have had their own hospital pharmacy. The pharmacy has found a home in modern premises on the ground floor of a new building. The official "approval" took place recently, meaning that the pharmacy, which exclusively supplies the hospitals in Zell am See and Mittersill, can now begin operations. This ensures an independent supply of medicines and therapy of the highest standard for patients, who can now receive even more comprehensive and targeted treatment. Medicines are also distributed optimally in the two hospitals in Zell am See and Mittersill. "
The in-house pharmacy and the associated laboratory ensure independent, flexible and reliable medical care. This benefits both patients and medical staff. The opening of our own pharmacy thus marks another milestone for the Tauernklinikum as the most important healthcare provider in the region," says Managing Director Mag. Silke Göltl MA about the new opening.
The new pharmacy manager, Mag. pharm. Dr. Martin Koch, emphasises that the opening of the hospital's own pharmacy will raise the quality of drug supply and medication information provided to hospital staff to the highest level:
"Trained hospital pharmacists can assess whether medications that patients are already taking may cause side effects or interactions and, in collaboration with the attending physicians, create individual medication plans that are precisely tailored to the patients. In this way, the Tauernklinik hospitals ensure even greater safety." The newly expanded premises also cater to the specific needs of patients with customised products. "
Of the 270 hospitals in Austria, only 43 have their own in-house pharmacy.
The fact that the Tauernkliniken Zell am See and Mittersill can now count themselves among these provides the medical staff with professional support from pharmacist Dr Koch and his team, as well as from clinical pharmacists Mag. Guntschnig and Mag. Granig. It also creates resources for everyday work," adds Medical Director Dr Michael Hofer.
"We are delighted that the opening of the new hospital pharmacy will help to improve patient care in our region. We would particularly like to thank all our colleagues and the management team, who have provided us with tremendous support over the last few months in setting up the new pharmacy. We are now looking forward to the new challenges ahead and are excited about the future," concludes Mag. pharm. Dr Koch.
