We focus on regional food sources
(Zell am See, 16 May 2024) – By participating in the Gut zu Wissen (Good to Know) and SalzburgerLand Origin Certificates, the Tauernkliniken Zell am See and Mittersill clinics are making a conscious decision in favour of transparency, responsibility and regionality. Great importance is attached to the use of sustainable and regional products. Meals prepared with at least one relevant ingredient certified as originating in SalzburgerLand may be awarded the SalzburgerLand Certificate of Origin.
On 1 September 2023, the regulation on mandatory origin labelling in public and private communal catering for meals containing meat, milk and eggs came into force. In order to implement this legal obligation as easily as possible, the Austrian Chamber of Agriculture has launched the "Gut zu wissen" (Good to know) origin labelling system. Around 1,400 meals are
prepared every day in the kitchens of the Tauernkliniken. These are served to patients, employees and students at the health and nursing school in Zell am See. Managing Director Silke Göltl emphasises the importance of origin labelling and regional food purchasing. "Awareness of local products and regionality has increased enormously in recent years. By processing regional products, local producers are to be integrated even more closely and the highest food quality ensured."
Managing Director Mag. Göltl and Nursing Director DGKP Martina Grießer MSc, representing the collegial management, kitchen manager at the Tauernklinikum Zell am See, Gerhard Temmel, Roland Gander, kitchen manager at the Mittersill site, and Andrea Forster, who works as a dietitian in Zell am See, were delighted to receive the certifications.
