Five years of pastoral care at Tauernklinikum –
light in difficult times

An anniversary marked by comfort, hope and humanity
Zell am See, 25 March 2025) – The Tauernklinikum recently celebrated the fifth anniversary of its pastoral care service with a festive church service followed by a reception. Since its inception, the pastoral care team has been an important source of support for patients seeking companionship and comfort during times of acute illness, chronic stress or in the final stages of life. Every week, between 40 and 60 patients are cared for by the mainly volunteer pastoral carers at both Tauernklinikum locations. They see themselves as "bringers of light" because they give their time, a listening ear and support in difficult moments. In doing so, they not only support patients, but are also a valuable source of strength for relatives and staff at the hospital.
"Pastoral care is an essential part of our everyday clinical work. It helps to ensure that people in stressful situations do not feel alone. This ensures the connection between high-quality medical care and patient-oriented care. We are extremely grateful for this," emphasises Mag. Silke Göltl, Managing Director of the Tauernklinikum. Special appreciation goes to the dedicated pastoral care team and all employees at the Zell am See and Mittersill locations who support this important service.
The anniversary celebration not only honoured the successful work of the past five years, but also looked to the future: pastoral care remains an integral part of the hospital, continuing to provide light and hope for patients of all religious and spiritual orientations.
