emergency

In serious, urgent cases, treatment in one of our acute outpatient clinics is necessary. In many cases, however, the GP emergency service also offers you the perfect medical care. If in doubt, come directly to one of our acute outpatient clinics or call the emergency services (144).

Color-coded chart showing triage levels: red for immediate danger, orange for very urgent, yellow for urgent, green for normal, and blue for non-urgent issues.

How urgent is my emergency?

When you arrive at one of the Tauernklinikum's acute outpatient departments, the first step is to identify any urgent emergencies and treat them immediately. Our trained nursing staff check for various signs and symptoms: they assess whether there is a risk to life, pain, blood loss, consciousness, temperature and duration of illness.

These factors determine the urgency of your treatment, which is based on the following scale:

005-ORTHO-TRAUMA_MOD-scaled-1-edited

How long do I have to wait?

This colour coding also indicates the maximum waiting time that can reasonably be expected of the patient. Red and orange emergencies are treated first. A green or blue assessment may result in waiting times. In other words, in this case, a waiting time is actually a positive sign, because it means that your symptoms are not serious. Regardless of this, our goal is to treat all patients as quickly as possible!

By the way: this urgency colour system is called "Manchester Triage" and was developed by a group of British doctors. The aim was to create a uniform model for initial assessment in emergency departments in the United Kingdom. This system is now used throughout Europe.
